Defendant, (U.S. District Court, Minnesota) - Defendant charged with six counts of burglary and assault alleging that he and three other people broke into an occupied home on an Indian reservation and severely beat and robbed the residents of the home. Two of the co-defendants testified against defendant at trial. The jury acquitted defendant of all six counts.
United States v. Defendant, (U.S. District Court, Montana) - Represented a Minnesota company that was retained by defendant in an environmental dumping case. The U.S. Attorney's office in Montana declined prosecution of the Minnesota company.

After extensive investigation by the defense, which was provided to the government, a plea agreement was reached in which defendant pled guilty to a Federal misdemeanor offense.
State v. Reiners, 664 N.W.2d 826 (Minn.2003) - Minnesota Supreme Court decision reversing the defendant's conviction holding that defendant should have been allowed to strike an African-American juror from the jury panel.

Grossman, 636 N.W.2d 545 (Minn.2001) - Minnesota Supreme Court decision holding that Minnesota's patterened sex offender statutes' sentencing provisions are unconstitutional if the sentence exceeds the statutory maximum, unless the issue of whether defendant is a patterened sex offender is submitted to the jury.
State v. Miller, 471 N.W.2d 380 (Minn.Ct.App.1991) - Minnesota Court of Appeals decision affirming the dismissal of three counts of criminal vehicular homicide on the grounds that defendant's conduct did not rise to the level of gross negligence required by the statute.
State v. Rhines, 435 N.W.2d 542 (Minn.Ct.App.1989) - Minnesota Court of Appeals decision affirming the dismissal of perjury charges on the grounds that statements of defendant made in a plea of guilty, later withdrawn, cannot be used to prosecute defendant for perjury.
State v. Defendant, (Hennepin County District Court) - Defendant, a security guard at a High School, was acquitted by a jury of assault charges involving a student.
State v. Defendant, (McLeod County District Court) - A High School band teacher was found not guilty by a jury of abusing a 17 year old female student, even though he admitted the sexual contact. The defense was that he did not use his position of authority to get the student to submit to his sexual advances.
State v. Defendant, (Carver County District Court) - The defendant, a female teacher was found not guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with a male student.
State v. Defendant, (Hennnepin County District Court) - The defendant was found not guilty by a jury of several counts of criminal sexual conduct.
State v. Defendant, (Hennepin County District Court) - The defendant was found not guilty by a jury of assault in the second degree. The state alleged that defendant pointed a loaded handgun at a process server during a physical confrontation. The defense successfully argued self defense and defense against a trespass.
State v. Defendant, (Rice County District Court) - The defendant was charged with criminal vehicular homicide. The jury acquitted the defendant of that charged and convicted him of a lesser charge of misdemeanor careless driving.
